The scale, grandeur and beauty of Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists, politicians and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day. Since the National Trust acquired the gardens in the late 1980s, an ambitious programme of restoration has ensured that over 40 temples and monuments remain, gracing an inspiring backdrop of lakes and valleys with an endless variety of walks and trails, a delightful visit, any time of year.

Friday 25 Nov 16, My husband and I visited Stowe Gardens, our last visit was in 2011.The gardens are stunning particularly in there early winter glory with the shades of autumn still clinging in the trees. The day was very cold but bright and sunny and we strolled round these really inspiring gardens full of wonderful monuments and statues. The... More

As National Trust places go, this is very much worth a visit. I have been many many times in different seasons and I'm never disappointed by the astounding beauty that is Stowe gardens. You will find peaceful walks populated with beautiful trees and shrubs very, statues and follies hidden deep within the greenery. It is well worth researching the the... More

We've visited Stowe Landscape Gardens on many occasions. Infact we joined the National Trust here around 10 years ago. We had been watching the Landscape Artist of The Year on Sky Arts which had several episodes filmed here and it was this which prompted us to make our visit today, together with the fact that it was such a pleasant... I go up here often and have done for years, with family, friends, etc. It's a lovely time out either just for a walk, or a picnic, or to enjoy the fresh food in the visitor centre. Every time I go I find new views, too. Can't fault it and would highly recommend for all ages.

A great trip, the maps are really clear. We did two of the three routes on the map. The food was really nice too.

What a difference since we last went several years ago, car park is to far away for disabled people no signs saying there is a golf buggy available, food was very good and reasonable, thought grounds and lakes very overgrown, and some features partially hidden by undergrowth very sad. Hose itself very good although quite a fussy job getting in... More

A really beautiful and peaceful place to visit, we went at the end of October when all the leaves were turning and showing their fantastic autumnal colours.

My wife has been on about going to Stowe gardens for a couple of years which I wasn't too keen on doing. How wrong was I? They're not formal gardens which I am not a fan of, instead it's landscaped gardens and they are beautiful. Good pick wifey 👍👏 We will be going back soon to check out the bits... More

I am a frequent visitor to Stowe with my husband or friends. Each time I visit I am never disappointed by the stunning lakes and quiet grounds to take a peaceful stroll. It is always beautiful whatever time of the year you visit and the views change with the seasons. As it is national trust, the cafe at the top... More

The grounds here are very big, walking round is a real pleasure the further out you go the less busy it is. We walked for 2 1/2 hrs and still did not see all the monuments, folly's features etc.
