We ended up on Mahahual Beach because we went to relax at the Tropicante restaurant/bar and beachfront setting. This is Old World, but it gets you out of the over crowded, over priced Port Area of Costa Maya. A cab to the area will cost you $2.00 per person, WELL worth it. The beach is simple, and depending on the... More

You can't even sit on the beach and enjoy the view without being constantly harassed by very aggressive peddlers hawking all kinds of junk. Normally a no is sufficient but not in this place, constant harassment. This was our first time here and will absolutely be our last.

Off ship for the day. Wife and I walked up street past gate to catch a cab to Mahahual beach for $2.00 per person. Arrived in 10 minutes. Walked along beach before we settled at the Krazy Lobster Club. For the day this place was fantastic with great food and they sat us at a table right on the beach... More

Great place to get away from the typical cruise ship port. This is a typical Mexican resort area, with venders selling trinkets. Cheap beer and the beach. Easy to get to and safe. Have been there multiple times and plan to go many more. Easy short trip from cruise port in Costa Maya.

The "town" is actually mainly a boardwalk that hosts cruise ships on every day except Monday, I believe. Therefore, many things may not be open. I went on a Sunday, everything was open and the beach was out of this world!!

We visited Mahahaul whilst on a day stop in Costa Maya on a cruise ship. I had read that there was some great snorkelling straight off the beach. Well, there isnt. The water is warm and clear but shallow sand with beds of seagrass. There are lots of people trying to sell you stuff all the time. Mahahual is an... More

Came here for a day while on a cruise, beach and water nice and had a very local feel. Good food and plenty of places to hang out and enjoy the beach. Shady spots availablr, a must in the Mexican sun

Crowded, touristy and vastly overpriced, and it gets worse when a cruise ship is in dock, first looks are impressive, but underneath it's quite dirty, very noisy and there's constant hassle from beach restaurants trying to get you to use there sun shades and loungers, probably the worst place I've been to in Mexico, I was told it was a... Majahual beach is a very nice place to get away from the busy areas of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Check out the cruise ship schedule and don't go there on a cruise ship day as it can be a bit crowded.
