I had been in Mahahual for over 15 years ago, although it retains a peaceful and quiet style, it has changed a lot in terms of accommodation and restaurants. We had a nice day with little tourists, we could enjoy the beach and its surroundings....More

We were so disappointed after arriving from Bacalar. Bacalar has blue water and is so peaceful. Ok the sea of Mahahual is also blue, but the beach is small, full of plants from the sea which is apparently not cleaned, so much shade because of...More

This once charming village has obviously suffered due to the impact of the cruise ships. The main beach is one long strip of beach bars/clubs and sunbeds. When we stayed in mid March 2018 the beaches were suffering from an attack of seagrass. Great efforts...More

So we took a shuttle from the cruise port in Costa maya for $3 pp to Mahahula beach. When we got there a "guide" lead us to the beach. We had to walk through a lobster restaurant that was on the beach where the waiters...More

We took a cab to Mahahual Beach ($2 each) and hung out all day at the Tropicante. Beautiful beach! Don't let the cab driver try to talk you into going somewhere for a $10 beach chair. If you go to one of the clubs, they...More

I would not pay 70.00 Taxis are cheap and if you eat or drink there are plenty of beach bars with ChRis and shade right on the beach.

I don’t know. I didn’t go swimming. Advise buying something at a dive shop which is wearable and waterproof to keep your valuables. Enjoy, Steve
