Located near the Plaza Grande, Once Patios is an open air maze of interesting shops built around courtyards and on multi levels. In many you will see artisans at work. It's a delightful way to procure nice gifts/souvenirs and work up a margarita thirst in the process!

This used to feel like a series of artisans. Now, many of them sell mass produced junk which is a real shame. It's easy to move around, and the layout is okay once you get used to it.

A couple of the best ones are on the second floor - easy to miss. Good handicrafts, clothing and gifts.

There are multiple shops providing a variety of regional craft to suit diverse tastes. You must visit La Troje, which is a true replica of the traditional Purepecha homes. This shop offers colorful tablecloths and napkins made from cotton or acrylic cloth.

This was a lovely venue for shopping. Each floor had different artisans with unique wares and the prices were pretty good. It was fun to explore the patios.

This ex-convent has been turned into a mini shopping area where most rooms have been turned into shops. You can find many types of handcrafts and jewelry and the architecture is very interesting.

Just make sure when you go is outside the lunch break since most shops will be closed, it's about half a block from the main plaza.

There is a little something here for everyone! The shops all seem to handle different things. there is a master Lacquer makers, weavers, straw craftsman, jewelers, etc. The house was originally a convent and those ladies really lived well!

In the officially designated "Pueblo Magico" - Magical Town of Patzcuaro, there is a place called 'Casa de los Once Patios' which was conditioned from a colonial hacienda into a showcase of artisans and their crafts. Great place for shopping. Don't be shy to barter. In some stores you might get to see the artisan at work. Be mindful of... More
