This is a great place to shut and observe. Enjoy the local culture, children playing, shopping, art venues, coffee shops, restaurants, and local festival events!

A nice place to relax
Oct 2019
A nice place to sit with a coffee (or something stronger) and people watch. It's the heart of the town and gets full in the evening. Lots of shops, places to eat and drink or just sit on a bench.

Pleasant Place for People Watching
Oct 2019
In the mid-morning hours, the plaza with its pretty central kiosk is a lovely place to meet friends or simply sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of Ajijic. There is also a first-rate coffee shop nearby called “Cafe Grano” on Marcos Castellanos where you can pick up a coffee to enjoy while you appreciate the kiosco.

Town landmark of square/plaza
Oct 2019
Did not explore closely but often used as a landmark to orient to the different areas of Ajijic. Located across from church toward Lake Chapala.

Just go, get a coffee, sit and relax.

I've been to a lot of places in Mexico. I am not a coffee guy but Ajijic is the place I want to get a coffee, put away my phone, and just open my eyes. Give it a try.

Artistic Gazebo
Aug 2019
Each plaza in Mexico usually has a gazebo. It is beautiful in Ajijic with lovely ironwork and detail. Beautiful to look at, roam around tha plaza or even sit in the gazebo.
A lkot of artistry and work went into gazebo in Ajijic.

Lovely and artistic
Jun 2019 • Couples

You see many, many interesting things here, from statues to photographs of old people from Ajijic, to children playing and singing, to real, good musicians playing swing. Both Mexicans and foreiigners walk around calmly or sit on the multiple benches under the trees or at the restaurants, bars and cafés. I was surprised that, as in all over the country, there were street dogs, but they look well fed. I asked and people told me that everybody feeds the street dogs in Ajijic. There is an animal shelter founded by an American, but the dogs that were taken there used to be free and prefer to live on the streets!
