We visited the Earthlodge village at Fort Berthold reservation and were surprised to find no one there but us! After wandering around a while we met a lovely Indian guy who explained to us that there were two funerals going on that day in the local town so that's where everyone was. Friendly People and a beautiful landscape. The Earth Lodge Village in Newtown is not to be missed. The oil boom has made travel difficult so be prepared for construction delays on the roads and the presence of hundreds of semi trucks.

I've been to the 4 Bears Casino there for some concerts in the Summer of 2006 and they had some Pow-Wows going on too. The Tribal leaders there had some good manners. They were concerned about the welfare of their cutomers and they made me feel comfortable.
