Different way to view surrounding waters of Mahone Bay starting with a ferry ride from beautiful Chester. A visit to Tancook is a great way to spend a day to relax and learn the history of the area.

We went to Tancook with my young kids on an extremely hot day. The only way to explore the island is walk or you can rent a bike, but with two little kids, walking is really the only option. Amazingly, we made it over to...More

My wife and I, brother and sister in law and their grandson recently took ferry over to this location as my wife has family buried in local cemetery! Unfortunately don’t think locals are interested in either promoting their island or cashing in on tourist dollars....More

Awesome unique island. Such a beautiful day. Locals so friendly. Remember to check 511 for up to date ferry schedules as we went and it was down for maintenance and had to return the next day.

Took the 10:20 ferry with my twelve year old daughter. We had fun exploring the island by bike until we stopped at Carolyn’s for a bite. We sat down and ordered a hot dog, which took about 30 minutes to receive. A group of fisherman...More

We took our bikes on the ferry to Tancook Island from Chester. It is a nice little island to bike around on, mostly flat with some lovely ocean views. A couple little shops to get a drink or small bite. The island is truly like...More

Yes the ferry would have to run year round in order to provide goods to the island. Remember the ferry crosses salt water so it would not freeze up! The crossings I wouldn’t think would have the same regular runs as in the... More

I counted the seats there are 60 inside and about 30 outside. I am sure there would be a limited. The early morning one would be a safer bet. You buy your tickets on the boat. We parked a the gazebo/bridge parking and... More
