Our first stop of the day on a recent trip around the Cabot Trail was at the Sunset Art Gallery where legendary folk artist William Roach and his family run a gallery and coffee shop. I first came across Bill over 25 years ago when I was setting out to drive the Cape Breton Highlands N.P. portion of the Cabot... More

This is a great place to find unique pieces of folk art. William D. Roach is one of a kind and has a rare talent that brings his carvings to life! In the pic is my all time favourite.

Very interesting folk art, in a lovely setting. Lots of great stuff to look at, and owners/artists are on site and happy to talk about their craft.

I loved the paintings and carvings at the Sunset Art Gallery. The use of colour and the sense of fun that comes through the different pieces takes my breath away. The Sunset Art Gallery is a "must see" on the Cabot Trail.

This is such a fun little gallery to visit. The folk art is very creative and quite whimsical! There is also a nice little cafe attached to the gallery. Definitely worth a stop to visit.

This small gallery gives you the local flavour. I was very impressed with what William D. Roach has built. Not only are his wood carvings very witty and enjoyable, but he also provides space to many other local artists, for a breadth of works to enjoy (and also all are available to purchase). I loved the woman getting ready for... More

This is a great place to stop for a coffee, latte, espresso or cappuccino as you are leaving Cheticamp. Don't get the drink and treats to go, sit in the patio (or indoors on bad days) and enjoy the locals and the owner who will most likely make himself known with some local colour and maybe some humor. Even if... More

Unique folk art and coffee and pastries at Frog Pond Cafe on site. Bill Roach, co-owner with wife Linda, is well recognized as a major maritime artist.

If you have time to only visit one gallery in Cheticamp, it must be this one. Bill Roach is a true folk art carver, and his sense of humour and imagination shows through in his work.
