Not a lot of parking and narrow on the drive in. Be cautious and courteous. Great views, good photography options. See it in Foggy and Clear weather. The tour is worth the $5. Good history spot. Watch the Ferry come in and out.More

Yes, parking and narrow roads are common when driving to many lighthouses. Lighthouses are often situated on spectacular coast line for navigation purposes and were not designed for tourism. We have made as much parking as possible but it is limited. It is also in...More

I don't know what is more enchanting, looking up at the lighthouse from the ferry or a kayak, or standing below the lighthouse looking out at the Bay.

Swallowtail Light has boardwalk trails and steep steps around the lighthouse buildings. The views of the harbor at North Head and the rocky shore are beautiful. There is a small parking lot and a tiny gift shop. Guided tours are available in high season.

Beautiful views and lots of history. Don't forget to take your wallet with you or purchase your pass at the gift shop before heading down the stairs. (if you want to go to the very top of the lighthouse)

If you do forget your wallet, you can still take the tour and pay at the gift shop on your return. Cash, debit and credit cards are accepted at the gift shop. Cash only at the lighthouse.

An amazing walk over to the lighthouse that takes 10 minutes. If I had kids with me would want close adult supervision! The walk is free and cost to go up in the lighthouse is 5 dollars. Great views and history. Highly recommend.

Any pets need supervision as well and should be on leashes. The footbridge, path and boardwalk are safe but there are many opportunities to explore the peninsula at your own risk.

This place provides you spectacular views. The walk is nice and not hard. If you want astonishing pictures, wear boots and climb the rocks. You won't regret.

If it were only for the access walk to this lighthouse, it would be worth the journey but, once you get there, the buildings are beautiful, the reception warm and the coastal views stunning. Bring your lunch and stay a while.

It was a lovely sight, despite the fact that we could barely see it 100 M in front of us due to the heavy fog that rolled in the day we were exploring. Would recommend a visit despite the weather!More

Lighthouses and fog go hand in hand in the Bay of Fundy. Each have their own beauty but remember to stay clear of the horn. On foggy days, often the afternoon is better when the heat of the day can burn the fog off in...More

Spent only about half a day on Grand Manan Island - way too short!. Took the ferry over from Black's Harbour and walked to the Swallowtail Lightstation - just about a mile. It's a lovely walk - the lightstation is historic & the surrounding views...More

The fuel smell is only at the entrance and can not be detected elsewhere in the lighthouse. We can not get rid of it without tearing the building apart and reflects the work nature of the building (generators and oil lamps) before electricity. You can...More

Swallowtail Lighthouse is a restored 19th century lighthouse rich in history. Guided tours are offered by informative guides. A $5 fee is charged which is more than reasonable. Proceeds go to the upkeep of the lighthouse. Our particular guide was heavily involved in the restoration...More
