Loved our tour with Stubbs Island. Took awhile to find Orcas, but when we did it was spectacular. We also saw humpbacks, eagles and Stellar sea lions. Very informative and spectacular scenery. A highlight to our trip. Dress warm if you are going in September.

Having lived in Australia for several years, I went on this tour hoping to see more orcas than humpbacks (as we see them in oz) and this tour did not disappoint! Very soon after we left the port we saw a group of three, then...More

Whale watching is, well, whale watching. What makes the difference is the attitude and the knowledge of the crew. "Captain Wayne" has been doing this for 20 years (after a career in the RCMP) and he knows every bay and inlet in the area. And...More

We left Telegraph Cove around 9:00 a.m. in the boat called Lukwa, with approximately 30 tourists and headed south down the Strait. The weather was sunny and warm, and the seas were very calm. Captain Wayne and the crew were very friendly and made the...More

This trip was just brilliant from start to finish. We saw a pod of orcas swim by before we had even got on the boat! We saw a huge amount of wildlife, from different orcas (fish and mammal eating ones), porpoises, dolphins, to humpbacked whales,...More

Had a whale-watching trip with Stubbs in September 2016. It was one of their last trips tracking the resident pod of Orcas, which appeared to be heading out the area at the end of the summer season. Lovely boat and good interaction with the guides/crew....More

Amazing whale watching trip seeing bald eagles, humpback whales, seals, sea lions, and dolphins. My brother and I had a wonderful time on this excursion. Our captain Wayne, with his great enthusiasm, and our marine biologist Jackie, with her vast knowledge, made it most memorable....More

You can get an idea by reading the Stubbs Island website Sightings Log from last June to get an idea as to what can be seen. For sure humpback whales arriving from Hawaii and Mexico are showing up early in June and there are... More

When is the best time to see Orcas? Are they still around in September? Also, is there a time of year when they are more likely to breach?

Hi Etta D, My apologies for taking so long to respond to your question. The summer months from June through September are the best months to see whales in the Johnstone Strait and Blackfish Sound areas. For orcas... More

Are humpback sightings likely in early September? Hoping for a breach like I suspect everyone does.

Humpback sightings increase through September as the whales are busy feeding before starting their migration to Hawaii, Mexico or Japan. As to breaching, that can happen anytime. :)
