This is where I breath with a smile. You want to shop, there are plenty of stores including the Cotton Exchange. Want to bar hop? Bars galore. Some great food options, I'd say there are more good restaurants than bad but you will know immediately by the amount of people hanging around the doors or sitting outside enjoying the atmosphere.... We spent the day visiting areas of Wilmington and wished we had more time. We walked the water front and although they are doing renovations it was still accessible. Did not know that the Coast Guard ship has there base in Wilmington so that was cool to see and if you get there by sunset you will see the Coast... More

Downtown Wilmington is a dream. Loads of great mom and pop businesses. The candle shops, antique shops, music shops, galleries, museums and entertainment venues make Wilmington a hot spot for social activity. Loved every minute.

Great area with lots of restaurants and bars. Lots of little shops and close to the Riverwalk. Fun to walk around.

I'm a local and I absolutely love going downtown, especially with my friends! There are lots of different clubs, restaurants, bars, and shops, but I also love to just walk around and check out what's going on!

Ther's a lot of construction going on as part of a revitalization project. But there are also a lot of empty places and crumbling buildings. I realize some businesses close for a short break during the winter, but some spots look as though they've been empty for quite awhile. The brew pub business seems to be the biggest attraction with... More

Wilmington downtown is not huge by City standards which makes it even better in my opinion. We could walk a few blocks and see most of the highlights.

City is continuing to revitalize downtown Wilmington near the Cape Fear River. Shops, restaurants, condos, bed/breakfast inns, hotels...plenty for everyone. Free parking after 6pm and weekends from what I remember.

Downtown Wilmington is a quaint, but vibrant area. Dating back to pre-Revolutionary War days, this downtown riverfront on the banks of the Cape Fear River has its main business street (Front Street) located only one block from the river. The wooden RiverWalk boardwalk extends for well over a mile and the entire route is very pedestrian friendly, safe and scenic.... More
