Community theater with surprising top level of talent, professionalism and quality staging
Jul 2021
The Hart theater has two stage buildings nestled in this beautiful mountain setting in Waynesville N.C. Both theater buildings are rather new and they are beautiful. One is for large productions and the other building next to it is for more intimate productions. We recently saw the production in the large theater of "S'Wonderful" about the music of George & Ira Gershwin. The staging, costumes, singing and dance by the local cast was way above usual community theater type talent. The music director played the piano for all of the many songs in the production. The story line about the Gershwin brothers was nicely carried through the show by the various Gershwin songs. The list of their recent past productions was a nice variety of interesting plays, that I wish we had seen.
We can call ourselves amateur critics of stage theater. Our Dad was part of a community theater for 30 years in Long Island, NY. Plus, we go to local theater where we live in Ft Lauderdale Fla, plus we always attend the professional theaters when we often visit NYC. We just started to spend time in the Asheville area. We look forward to returning for more productions at this Hart Theater in the future. We are so glad to know that we can enjoy the many areas of the scenic Smoky Mountains during the day and then enjoy this theater for entertainment at night. Their ticket prices are a real bargain, plus they have a discount for Seniors !

Mamma Mia! - an enjoyable experience
Sep 2019
This is a small venue, but every seat has a great view of the stage. The theater is located on a side street in downtown Waynesville. I went to see the production of "Mamma Mia" and it was a fabulous show by a very talented cast - most of whom I believe are locals and not professionals. It was a very enjoyable evening! I would definitely go again.

Small and cozy. Not a bad seat in the house. Performances are outstanding. I have seen many plays there. Recently saw Bridges of Madison County and Oliver in the main theatre. Awesome. Saw Facility for Living in small theatre. Hilarious. Actors are excellent. Worth a trip.

A SMALL, INTIMATE VENUE
Aug 2018 • Couples
The Haywood Arts Regional Theater, or HART, is a small, intimate venue featuring local and professional talent in wonderful productions. Being small, there is virtually no bad seat in the house. Reservations for showings can be made on line and offers discounts for seniors. Waynesville is fortunate to have such a wonderful arts center.

Shining Star in the Mountains
Sep 2018 • Couples
We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful venue in Waynesville. The main stage is home to musicals and plays requiring the larger stage while the Fangmeyer Theater is home to smaller cast and intimate setting. The local talent is so diverse and their productions are stellar. I would recommend catching a production if your in the area. You won’t be disappointed.

Great evening of entertainment.
Nov 2018 • Couples
All of the acts including singing, dancing humor, illusionists were very talented. The staging was excellent and the tempo of the show flowed well. The snack bar was set up similar to a carnival or movie theatre. A glass of wine would have been nice. This show is appropriate for all ages. Chris Blue, recent winner of The Voice, is a special guest for this Christmas show and was wonderful.

Fabulous!!!

My husband and I saw "Over the River and Through the Woods" today at the Daniel and Belle Fangmeyer Theatre (the smaller of the theaters) and were not disappointed! The play itself was entertaining, the cast were professional quality and there wasn't a bad seat in the venue. We didn't visit the concessions area, so I can comment on it, but the rest of our experience was just flawless. This was our first visit to HART, but have added this to our list of favorites! We can't wait to make the drive back to Waynesville for more of these wonderful performances!

Great Performances...Never Disappointed
May 2018
The venue is beautiful, all seats are good. The performers and productions, sound, orchestra are all fantastic. Even the ticket price is more than agreeable. We drive 40 minutes to get there from Hendersonville and it's worth it every time.
