A tad disappointing
Apr 2021
I was excited to visit Balsam Antique Mall from what I read online. I'm an antique dealer from out-of-state so was looking for something unique or interesting from the area that I could bring back to my shop. Balsam is a group shop and clearly has no editing or requirements that dealers make their booths attractive, desirable and interesting. A lot of the upstairs booths were just a mess. Most of the downstairs booths weren't much better. If you're not that serious about antiques and looking to find knick knacks and trinkets you might enjoy Balsams. If you're a serious antique dealer you'll be quite disappointed

after experience in 2017 I said I would never go back.....but
Jun 2020
Yes, I broke down and went again after a horrible experience there in 2017 where I was hurt by a falling book from a wobbly bookcase (and the people working there did not care at all) . I'll admit it was much better this time and the people working there were very nice. However, they still had quite a few very cluttered booths that we just passed right by. It's not worth tripping, knocking something over, or climbing over items to get to something (these booths are also very dusty). I just don't understand what some booth owners are thinking with booths like this. Maybe it's cheaper to rent a booth than to rent a storage unit.

The mall is 15,000 square feet with over 100 booths and has 2 floors. The main aisles are wide and clear and the booths are well organized. The layout has a good flow making it very easy to get from one area to another.

You will find glassware, furniture, vintage clothing, books, kitchenware, toys, tools, license plates, wall art, ceramics, vintage jewelry, linens, vinyl, pottery, linens, and much more.

Great Variety, Friendly Operators
Dec 2020
We stopped in on a day-trip to Waynesville and spent an hour or so reviewing the booths inside. The building is large and airy, well organized and easy to navigate. This is especially good during the pandemic and all staff were wearing masks. The mall offers furniture, clothing, collectibles, two very nice book collections (historical, North Carolina, etc) and other interesting items. They accept credit cards and were friendly and helpful. We'll return.

Disappointed
Oct 2020
Lots of parking, brightly lit, some good booths, and some were literally piles of junk that had been thrown in; I don't understand. I tried hard to find something to buy, but after nearly two hours, I gave up. Would not return.

An antique search
Jul 2020
Decided to stop in for a look around and maybe locate items or collectibles that my wife and I enjoy. Ample parking and a direct front entrance lead you to the mall inside. The mall is clean and spaced out enough to give ample opportunity to search and browse through each booth. The mall has 2 floors although the second floor is not as stocked as the first. I found lots and lots of glass and glassware, some furniture, a bit of FireKing kitchen ware, dolls, and old car tags. Some new and old toys were displayed, pictures, books old and new, and some farm tools just to add to the list of items. There is to much to list but this a sampling of items you will find. This was a good way to spend some time although I didn't locate anything i needed. Prices for the antiques and collectibles appeared to be consistent and as reasonable as other antique mall I've browsed.

Good Stop in Transit
Aug 2019 • Couples
This huge mall is filled with a good selection of booths with plenty of free parking. Located just off the highway just outside Balsam, I found a nice booth of old beer bottles that we sorted through, but did not come up with anything we were looking for. Another booth had a ton of license plates, where I found a few we were missing. Fun for an hour or so.

Lots of Booths
Jul 2019 • Couples
This was the largest antique shop we visited in Maggie Valley and Waynesville. Just like most others have said, there is a lot of merchandise with a pretty good variety. Otherwise, it's pretty standard as antique malls go with nothing too amazing. It was a fun activity for a rainy day and there is good parking.

Huge variety of items offered - it’s a two story building. It took us 2 hours to walk through all the booths. The woman behind the counter was fabulous. I bought a clock and she took the time to print off instructions for it. She also make sure all of our items were packed securely for our long trip home. We will definitely stop by again if ever in the area.

Lot of merchandise
Sep 2018 • Friends
While antiquing, we visited the Balsam Antique Mall. It’s a fairly large place with two floors of merchandise. There is a great variety of old and true antique items and furniture. The only thing I didn’t care for here was the overpowering smell. The place smelled like mold or mildew.

Typical antique mall

Large building, didn't really find to much . Picked up a couple of items. I wouldn't pass it up but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there either.
