If you want to rest and relax, this is the place. It does not cost a thing to hike, fish or paddle. You can even camp (out in the forest) for free. If you prefer to comfort camp the campgrounds are a bargin!

Local to Charlotte with enough development to be comfortable, but not so much as to distract. There are hiking trails that are well marked and well maintained.

Badin Lake is so beautiful and we loved our visit! We will go back and plan to take a picnic lunch. Lots of shade and picnic tables.

How do I even begin to write a review for this awful place? I arrived and falsely believed that I was about to have a good time. A few hours later, I was fighting for my life in a swarm of bugs larger than my thumb and trying not to get consumed by ravenous mountain lions. When the sun goes... More

Each time I visit the Uwharries I'm still fascinated with the beautiful scenery and the excellent trails to walk. Each trail varies with their distance but none that I have traveled are too strenuous. The trails are used by day hikers, campers, and mountain bikers but everyone I've encountered have respected each other's activities. Parking isn't as plentiful as one... More

We were at this park for opening day of the 4x4 trails. You purchase a day or annual pass and can take your jeeps or trucks or bikes out on the trails. The campground accommodates RVs or tents with both electric and non electric sites. The bath house is pretty clean with hot water showers. Campsites are on wooded lots... More

We went to Arrowhead Campground to hike Badin Lake and mountain bike. This area is trashed! Literally and figuratively. The Badin Lake trail has trash everywhere and generally poorly maintained. Mountain biking trails/horse trails are way overused, rutted out, swampy and unridable. Campground was overrun with ATVs and loud. Lake beach was strewn with glass and garbage. I've never seen... We go to Uwharrie National Forest every chance we get. There is a lot of amazing scenery & the chance to see wildlife is abundant. Wear decent shoes for hiking because you can do a fair amount of it. Love this place!

I've been to Uwharrie several times and have covered all of the trail except for the new northward extension (I need something to look forward to, right?). As a dedicated backpacker (Appalachian Trail thru hiker SOBO '05), this offers a satisfying weekend getaway, and the trail has never been crowded. While most of the trail is easy or moderate, there... More

Love Uwharrie. Have been using the boat ramps, hiking, OHV and horse trails for 15 years. The OHV traffic has gotten completely out of hand with ATVs, jeeps and dirt bikes flying up and down the roads and leaving garbage at every road side camp spot. Had a beer bottle thrown at us and barely missed my friend on the... More
