The Poteet Park is really neat for kids and a nice place for parents to hang while watching the kids. It is fenced in (however little ones still need watching) and has a covered area with picnic tables for lunch or small parties. The covered pavillion has two charcoal grills, vending machine and restrooms. The playground area has an expansive... More

This is a wonderful playground for kids to run around & play while parents can watch from benches under big shade trees. It's located just across the bridge from the pavilion where concerts are held on Friday nights all summer long & the fantastic farmers market is held Saturday mornings.... A pretty short walk from downtown Sylva. It's always popular... More

This park is great (since it does have a pool nearby within walking distance) however, it needs to be updated! The equipment has been the same since i was a kid and that was 15-20 years ago. I take my 3 year old and I feel like the swings and stuff need new mulch underneath and swings updated for little... More

Poteet Park is a lovely little park that features an extensive playground system and a basketball hoop for older children. Everything is close at hand so parents can keep an easy eye on small children. It's clean and well kept, with a fun bridge that crosses Scotts Creek.

Mostly garbage pail teens, man-children, bums, loose women and other questionable types hang out here. I don't enjoy having my young children around cursing, drinking, smoking, making out, used condoms and other assorted unmentionables that children can pick up. We stay away from that place and go to Mark Watson, Cullowhee or any other place that is family friendly.

Took my son here for a little basketball while staying in a cabin in Sylva. I would rate this park as "sketchy". I witnessed a couple drug deal / conversations and most of the "kids" on the courts had really fowl mouths right in my presence. You know, "MF" every other word. Pretty nasty really. My son tried to get... More

Should be open but its closed. My kids are disappointed because it does look like a nice park. Not sure why you need to lock it with barbed wire, Sylva should not be a bad area where bad things happen. It does not show well for the town.

It is a massive playground with many areas for kids to play. It is a popular park so there is always others there. There was plenty of benches for tired parents, grandparents, and babysitters to sit and rest while the kiddos run wild. There is also covered picnic seating at the park. It is a nice place to visit.

The Sylva Rotary Club built this playground and it is truly incredible! It's open all day, has restrooms and has most anything kids could want to play on. We are visiting from Florida and this is by far our 2 year old's favorite part of our trip. Sturdy wooden structures, a variety of age appropriate activities and shade made for... More
