Whistling Fish Bookshop closed reopened as Gather Restaurant

Has reopened as a restaurant. We didn't try food but décor and menu looks great. We like coming here for a pre-dinner drink in the garden before going to Sails Restaurant.

Stopped by and had a cold drink on the lawn with cheese and crackers with olives and date paste... Delish! Lucky, the dog there, is very friendly as well, be warned loves pats and ball thrown :)

We stopped here as we had read in a brochure for Woodsoak wines and a wine trail brochure that they did tapas here as well as wine tasting and boutique beers. They however don't serve tapas at all. They have toasted sandwiches and bruscetta only. Both were quite nice but we had our heart set on tapas! The shiraz was... More

I'm usually very skeptic about places that classify themselves as too many things. A cellar door and a cafe and a bookshop, but I was pleasantly surprised. We came in to this place for a quick wine tasting and ended up staying for lunch. The food was delicious and the wine was exceptional! And the atmosphere of the cosy little... More

Its a very beautiful coffee/bookshop. Not only is the coffee good (its also from a local company,) but the environment and atmosphere is great. The owner is friendly and an interesting man to talk with. We brought a couple of books and had a coffee. Pattered the dog. It was the highlight of a two week trip. Inspirational.

Cosy interior and pleasant garden made this a great alternative to a very busy main street on Monday at the end of the long weekend. Great coffee, want to try Mahalia's too and the caneles took us back to France :-) When searching for cafes on TripAdvisor beforehand you didn't come up, but listed as a nightspot/bar.

Great coffee but awful service. Served by the most uninterested and rude man. Grunted at us. No please no thank you. Life is too short to be that unhappy.

Found this little place while my wife was off shopping, it is a great bookshop as well as a cafe and cellar door. spent a great hour here reading a book i purchased, while also enjoying a craft beer.

We love morning tea at the bookshop! Great enclosed garden with outdoor tables which is fantastic if you have small children, and a few toys to keep them occupied while you enjoy a coffee and delicious cake. An interesting selection of books also.
