Beautifully sad

It is an easy walk from the car park to the tower. It is sad to think what is was used for. But a beautiful building in a wonderful spot.

What an amazing piece of history and architecture! Well worth a visit. A short walk from the car park is worth it to see not only the Tower but the view of the coast.

The road trip to the Tower is a lot easier than the road to the Cape Green Lighthouse. Mostly sealed road and hen about 1.2km of nice and flat but unsealed road. The Tower is a 300m easy walk from the carpark. You can't climb the tower. There is a small flight of stairs going down to a great lookout... More

This is a top spot to go and explore. Bush tracks. Not too far for young children to walk (although there are longer ones for the adventurers.) Amazing scenery and history on whaling. Came across this by chance but so glad we did.

Very interesting history and scenery is amazing. The walking track is easy for all, not suitable for wheelchair.

5 stars because of it's history and location. The area used to be dotted with lookout towers during the whaling era. Built of wood, they've all either rotted away or fallen victim to the bush fires fairly common in the area. Ben Boyd had dreams of his tower, built in stone shipped from Sydney, being a lighthouse, but the Crown... More

This was worth looking for. This building and the history that surrounds it is amazing. It has stood against the elements of the cliff and the feeling of history just oozes out of the stones that make the building. Look carefully at the stones and you will capture some of the history, look out the windows and you can see... More

A magnificent tower full of history in what they used to do in the early days of whale watching/ killing. Great view of the ocean and whale spotting

A short drive on a dirt road which is well maintained, then a short walk and you reach the tower. For its time it is very impressive. There are then 2 short walks to lookouts which provide absolutely breathtaking views. Could stand there all day. In whale season you would definitely spot some activity. Definitely worth the drive!

Path is wheelchair friendly. Not too long for little ones. Great view, basic toilettes, Walk from light to light is great but not for the infirm or toddlers. Just keep an eye on the little ones so as they don't wonder off the pathways. Good to learn about the local history.
