The Nan Shan Park is a place for families to go have picnics or play, but during the week it's also a nice place to walk or go jogging. Specially from May to October it's a place to enjoy with others. There is also a restaurant where you can order tea and Chinese dishes, but it's rather expensive.

It's free, fun and relaxing. If you only have 30 minutes, great, check out the view and get a sense of the layout of Xining. If you have 2 or 3 hours to spare, even better. Explore and discover the Tibetan prayer flags, the little monastery (with ridiculously friendly monks), a mosque (with one of my favorite gates in all... More

Xining is not very beautiful or interesting city. But here on Xining Nanshan Mountain you will find the very tranquil place and wonderful panorama of the city. Just spend on the mountain 20-30 minutes and you will not disappointed. Unfortunately the beautiful mosque in Chinese style is closed.

First went in 2011 with my ex when we came back from Darlag. It's a place where you can get a good view of Xining from above, and see how the city extends along the valley. Quite a few Amdo music videos were taped here. Easy to reach from the city as well.

Great views of Xining from the top. We spent about three hours up there strolling around. The Phoenix Monument is on top which is nice. There is also a lovely Tibetan Folk Park which is worth having a walk around. There is an exercise area too and nice walkways around the edge of the hill.

We could see the building like a lotus as we were traveling around Xining and wanted to go up to the park. The road up is very steep, and our taxi driver only took us half way up, and we walked the last kilometer up a very steep road. At the top there is a nice park, and a cafe... More

This park appears as it has had some investments 20 years ago (cable lift, little train around the park) but halfway they decided it wasn't worth it. There used to be a ticket booth to get into the park but it is abandoned now. There's some infrastructure works going on in the park and they put a fence around the... More

This was a great less-crowded place to see, and no charge. It has really nice views of the city. It's a walk uphill, maybe a little under a mile, but you can take a car for about 10 RMB. At the top, there are paved walkways throughout which lead to a grassy area, some Buddhist buildings, an Islamic building, and... More
