Went on a weekday and one felt peaceful inside the temple compound. Felt good to spend a few hours there, to get away from the hectic city life outside. The temple itself was nice. They even had a Cantonese opera stage with simple wooden long benches for audiences but didn't get a chance to catch a glimpse of opera on... More

Waldo realises it is NO secret, milk desert is a favourite of just about anyone visiting the Ancestral Temple. Situated near the main gate it is a tiny desert institution serving milk deserts. I just go for 1001, Plain chilled. Like a semi solid milk custard it is delicious. I elude to it in a previous review. Missus and youngsters... More

This place is touted as the #1 thing to see in Foshan. Maybe because I came here in the rain and I didn't have much time, but I don't know about that. It is however beautiful and there are things I haven't seen at other temples, and they had an opera going. I visited the day after Chinese New tear's... More

This is an ancient temple with great history. Why add in some kungfu heroes' exhibition to ruin the experience? To justify the entrance fee? Replicas coexist with real history just do not cut it. Put aside the kungfu heroes, walking through the huge temple compound on a chill day was actually pretty nice. Worth a visit, just ignore the fake... More

Foshan in Guandong province was famed for pugilists, triads, lion dances, chinese physicians and the backdrop for several of the world's best known Kung Fu masters. Step into a world of rich culture and history and discover how this very site was the coveted jewel in the crown when it comes to the preservation of chinese arts that has influenced... More

The Temple area is small , however you can time your visit to witness traditional - cultural performances such as "Lion Dance" - Chinese Opera & Kung Fu - the admission is inexpensive - there is a local snack shop for dumplings & noodles

On visiting this temple, there was a person dressed as a monkey outside –it is the year to the monkey-. Upon entering, there was a building dedicated to Ip Man or Yip Man a Wing Chun master which is a style of Kung Fu. He was a teacher of Bruce Lee- this was not too interesting to the non kung...
