Drive by on way home

Beautiful, looks like a return visit in the future.
I did not stay here but at historic Tapoco Lodge. Stumbled upon this on drive home.

A beautiful lake area with permanent residents and visitors who can rent homes.

Serene and beautiful
Aug 2020
This lake is ringed by majestic blue mountains and forested shoreline. It's the perfect place for a quiet cruise on still waters, a picnic on the water, a quiet conversation or a little bird watching. We saw two large bald eagles in one of the sloughs. There were several kayaks and paddleboards, but we didn't see many ski boats during our midday boat ride on a Friday. Not sure whether the lake would be busier on the weekend. It can't be too busy, because there didn't appear to be many lake houses. Other than a few densely populated areas, this lake is mostly surrounded by woods and mountains! It's a gorgeous and serene place.

Beautiful place for outdoor activity
Jul 2020
Our family of five spent a week staying at a place on edge of Lake Santeetlah - kids ages 3, 5, and 7. The lake is beautiful, and we had no problem finding fun activities in the area.

It isn't a round lake, and the roads around it are evidence of that. Very curvy, slow roads, with lots of motorcycles in the area. It would probably take close to an hour to drive around the entire lake.

Robbinsville provides a nice variety of restaurants, stores, gas stations, etc. Our favorites were T. Dubbs, a BBQ lunch spot in town, and Tapoco Tavern in a different area not too far from the lake.

We enjoyed kayaking around one of the branches of the lake. We also spent a lot of time swimming. The best swimming spot is at the Cheoah Beach on the north side of the lake. It is right next to a campground, costs $5 per day per vehicle, is roped off and protected (though no lifeguard), and has a nice sandy bottom. We also swam from a few different spots at the Long Hungry Campground.

There are a variety of options for hiking in the area. Check out the Joyce Kilmer Forest or Yellow Creek Falls.

Beautiful Lake!
Oct 2019
Lake Santeetlah was absolutely gorgeous. So many small fingers and coves to explore. My dad and stepmother even saw otters one evening when exploring the lake. The area is quiet and beautiful with lots of places to explore on the water and nearby hiking as well.

Beautiful Mountain Lake
Oct 2019 • Friends
Such a lovely lake. Colors in fall beautiful. There are a few inns & resorts around. Boats, canoes & kayaks available in many spots. Great fishing lake. We met some people who had catfish & trout they had caught. Water is crystal clear. There are also camping areas right on the lakefront. Lake is not crowded.

Enjoyed a great weekend in NC on Lake Santeetlah. Had a great dispersed camping site right on the creek. Did some paddling on Lake Santeetlah and hiking in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.
