Great folks and fun drive!
Jul 2021
When you embark on this fun drive down the Tail of the Dragon, you must stop at the 129 Hub first! They have some really great T-shirts and refreshments that you will love! Huge thanks to Josh for putting together the Dragon X races and making it as fun and safe as possible! You guys rock!

Thrill Ride OMG! Gorgous!
Jul 2021 • Couples
Such a Beautiful ride! 318 curves in 11 miles!
Fast moving cars & motorcycles! I was a little nervous, I don't like fast or sides with steep edges! Several photo companies out there getting your photo. Cool stop at top..food. gas, lodging Deals Gap! Beautiful scenery to get there. Everyone should do it! Bike or not!

Relax and Enjoy
Jul 2021 • Couples
Motorcycle — what an excellent ride! Respect the curves, relax, and enjoy. Some reviews can scare you, but watch the white line (not the center yellow line) and just be prepared to curve after curve after curve!!!

Worth the Trip
Jul 2021
I went early in the morning to avoid the crowds, the drive is awesome and even saw a Black Bear crossing the road, the only negative part are the Idiots on sport bikes..

Never gets old. Only 3 photographers now mid-week.
Jun 2021
We have lost count how many time we have been here since we live just 2 hours away. It's always a treat. Still the same wonderful experience, and the photographers still take photos of your car. They do such a good job and generally arrive between 9 and 10 a.m.. We saw just 3 taking photos on a Tuesday in June. A perfect day too. There used to be as many as 6 in the past. Unfortunately you still see the insane people here as well. Although there were no police on the Dragon itself on this day, we saw numerous vehicles pulled over along the way, especially on the NC side. We kind of guessed that these people would get pulled over as they passed us at 90+ mph. Yes, they have the cars that can handle the speed, but that's not wise so close to the Dragon.

Great views and curves
Jul 2020 • Family
We left Cade’s Cove and took Foothills Parkway to the beginning of the Dragon and then onward to Robbinsville. This can be very busy on weekends. Deals Gap is a favorite starting point. Lots of motorcycles

Great Drive
May 2021
An absolute must for the "curvy road" enthusiast! Until this visit, the last time I drove the Dragon (before it was called the "Tail of the Dragon") was when I was in college in TN over 40 years ago. The road is just as fun as I remembered and it was nice to do it in my Mustang vs my old rattletrap motorcycle (Honda CB350) back in the day.

The pavement is exquisitely maintained and there were zero potholes and very little gravel. The banking is perfect and there are sufficient pulloffs for slower drivers/riders to let faster drivers/riders past.

If at all possible, plan your visit(s) for mid week. Weekends are so crowded you could almost walk it faster than driving. If you have time, drive it a few times. It's well worth it and its a different experience in each direction.

My only nitpick is that there should be a store or souvenir stand near Tabcat Bridge on the TN side. This is a business opportunity I am amazed that no one has taken advantage of.

Always fun slaying the dragon
May 2021
I've been to the dragon many times......a few times in sports cars, once in the family Volvo, and this time our trusty Land Cruiser made the trip. The road itself is a lot of fun. Just be sure to be courteous to other drivers/riders, use the pull offs, stay in your lane and be safe. We used one of the larger pull offs to "tailgate" for a few minutes where my Daughter and I checked out all the cars and bikes going by and then stopped at the shop at the end for some shirts and stickers. It's a must see if your a driving/riding enthusiast. Make sure to check Killboy or the other vendors online for your dragon photos, too!

Tons of Fun! Lots of curves and must be attentive
Jan 2021 • Friends
13 miles of 300 plus curves made driving very fun! You have to pay attention and the drive was made more enjoyable with very few other drivers on the road. There is no cell service and very few pull offs in case of road hazards. Just an fyi.

Quite a ride on the dragon. Remember to drive within your limits, there isn't much guardrail on it with steep drop-offs. There's some great views to be had.
