    A real Memory made
Enter the Gothic-style Castle grounds close to the car park time travelling back to the 17th 18th and 19th century. You will be greeted by Claire and provided with all the information related to the history and stories associated with the castle and life in a long-gone era. Claire is as enthusiastic as she is professional in helping you plan your visit. Walk through the gardens, lakes, water ways and woods. If you manage to spot all the curios along the way you will be enthralled and magically transported to other lands. One word of warning beware the gargoyles and other fairy folk that linger on the forest path. Thank you, Claire and team for a wonderful visit and tasty drinks and treats in the marvellous tea rooms. Managed to buy some momentos too!!

    Don’t miss this hidden gem
Super 1655 castle lived in by original family. Tea room fantastic. Recommend taking tour of house by Robert Pakenham about 1 hour. Gardens with Grotto lovely way to spend an additional hour.

    A step back in time
A beautiful day spent at the castle and walking around the gardens in the rain. Robert is an excellent guide and loved seeing so many items from history on display. The trees were all magnificent and I spent time lost in another world breathing in the fresh air. Magical. I moved down the road from the castle and I will be a regular visitor. Thanks to the family for allowing the public to visit. Highly recommend.

We were looking forward to this visit for some time and finally made it there. We were not disappointed! The driveway up towards the castle flanked by mature decidious trees transported us back in time. The imposing castle building dark and mysterious finally came into view. We parked up as plenty of carpark space available and made our way towards the courtyard. There we joined the group and met our tour guide, Robert. After his friendly introduction the group proceeded to the main entrance of the castle through the large red doors. Our guide explained the history of the castle with dates for all events through the years as we passed through each room. He brought history to life with stories and tales of the many Pakenham characters who adorn the walls in large golden frames.
Each room offers something new with interesting artifacts on show and a few hidden gems to discover. Our guide then took us to the old kitchen and areas where the servants worked giving us an insight into another world. The tour takes about an hour but we were so engrossed listening to our guide who did an excellent job entertaining us we didn't notice the time flying by.
We definitely enjoyed our afternoon and completed our tour with coffee and treats from the lovely tearoom there.
Tullynally Castle is a must see!

The 90-minute drive from Dublin to Castlepollard was so worth it. We arrived in time for coffee and scones before our guided tour at 12.30pm. Robert (our guide) is the business when it comes to guided tours. He read his audience well. Robert told the story of the castle and the Packenham family in a most entertaining and engaging way. He was also very informative. The tour was supposed to be 45 mins but I think we got at least 70 minutes and it was fantastic. We did a tour of the gardens afterwards and we did the full walk - very pretty indeed. Allow another 90 minutes for this. The only suggestion I might make for an improvement is to improve the quality of the jam for the scones. Ireland is awash with strawberries so there is no need to serve those awful little plastic boxes with foil lids that contain strawberry jelly. Employ a local person to make homemade strawberry or raspberry jam. Thank you again Robert - you were wonderful.

Had a great visit to the castle led by the absolutely wonderful Robert. It was fascinating to see a house that is still lived-in with items that we could touch. Robert filled the hour and 20 minutes with interesting tales and information about the house, the family and the items we saw. Will definitely bring any other visitors we have here!

After visiting magnificent mansions in Cornwall with lush gardens full of flowers and manicured flower beds I expected to find something similar. Unfortunately Tullinally Castle is not in the least comparable, neither in care nor in the quantity and variety of flowers. The ponds have dirty water, the paths are marked by gravel but often interrupt and continue in the meadow and mud. The flowers as I said are very few, beautiful trees, some are very impressive. Rather uncomfortable opening times and days, to be able to visit it we had to sacrifice other points of our itinerary, and unfortunately it was not worth it.

We were in the area so decided to visit Tullynally Castle without knowing much about it. How fortunate that we took the guided tour, hosted by Robert. He was brilliant. We were treated to a fascinating and engaging introduction to the house and the history of the Packenham family. Robert was generous with his time and family insights and it was so interesting to see a "lived in" house of this kind. We also walked the beautiful gardens and had a delicious lunch in the warm and cosy tearooms. The tour was a highlight of our visit to this part of Ireland. Highly recommend.

My visit in Tullynally castle was absolutely wonderful, I especially recommend the guided tour through the beautiful rooms inside the castle which gives you an intimate insight into the family's history. The gardens are absolutely spectacular with a wide variety of trees and sculptures to enjoy while taking a relaxing stroll. I cannot recommend Tullynally castle more!

We visited Tullynally Castle to see the gardens recently. The entrance fee is 8e and is very worth it. With that you get a great map of the gardens. I think you can also request a tree guide, although we didn't.

The trail is well sign-posted, with lots of points of interest. The gardens are so beautifully maintained, but not in an overly manicured way.

It was a lovely relaxing walk, and we enjoyed watching the Swans and signets on the lake and also meeting the Llamas.

The cafe in the courtyard of the castle had lovely fresh Quiche and salad, fresh baked goods, soup, etc. and lovely coffee.

Definitely worth trip if you are in the area!

We stopped here on our long drive across the country from Clifden to Slane. It was a nice place to get out and stretch our legs. Plenty of parking, toilets, and a small cafe. For us, the entry fee was a bit steep for the hour we spend wandering the gardens, but if we had had more time it would definitely been worth it. The grounds are very extensive and we only saw about half of them. We also wished we could have seen inside the castle, but tours were over for the day. The castle is very impressive from the outside, so I imagine there's a lot to see inside.

Stayed in Castlepollard for the weekend and we were recommended by the hotel staff to visit Tullynally Castle. It was a 15 minute walk from the hotel (you can drive too). We were met by two very friendly staff and given a background to the castle and grounds. It was €8 admission to the gardens and definitely money well spent. We had a little map with lots of information about each area of the gardens and we spent a couple of hours rambling through them. A very enjoyable experience and would recommend a visit if you’re ever in the area plus it’s only about 40 minutes from Mullingar!

My 9 year old boy climbed over a fence in front of the house today, as most 9 year old boys do. The owner or a staff member (English woman) came out of the house and shouted get out of there , to which my son immediate did. No that was not enough for her, she continued to shout and give out to him. We are on our holidays camping in a nearby town and my son cried for hours today and just wants to go home. It was totally uncalled for and very unprofessional especially in a family orientated facility. I just told my son to walk away from her as I didn't want to make matters worse. I would never recommend anyone with kids to visit this place.
