I found myself enjoying the colors and the road sometimes more than our drives through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park some days previous. You can certainly see a larger waterfall next to the road than anywhere in GSMNP where you must hike to see...More

The Pisgah National Forest is in several different counties in WNC. I most frequently visit the Buncombe & Transylvania portions. I live adjacent to the National Forest near Candler. We frequently see Bear, deer and other wildlife. There are networks of trails throughout. Many are...More

We visited here to do some "Leaf Peeping" The leaves were just starting to turn, but it was still beautiful. Just driving the back roads you will find beautiful and awe inspiring vistas. Waterfalls are plentiful. Many hiking trails - from easy to hard. We...More

We went in Oct and had one stunning view after another. I highly recommend visiting and finding some stops in this area.

My wife and I were totally blown away with the waterfalls, change in color of the leaves and the National Forest in general. I would highly recommend visiting Pisgah and enjoying the sights. Don’t forget to visit the rangers station on route 276.

We spent 1/2 of the day in Pisgah National Forest and the other 1/2 of the day driving the Blue Ridge Scenic Parkway. Our first stop was at the Visitor's Center in Pisgah National Forest. The Ranger was quite helpful in making up a map...More

This weekend is the COLOR opportunity. Marvelous journey through Pisgah National Forest in Western NC, going north out of Asheville, NC. The varied fauna varies when sunny or under clouds or mist/fog. The sheer granite walls are also breath taking. Every turn gives a further...More

Went to see the Waterfalls.... Awesome time even in the rain. We hiked and went to the trout hatchery. Feed the trout. Read all about the 3 types: rainbow, brook, and browning. Learned alot and enjoyed our time exploring.

We drove on the Blue ridge parkway through the forest with outstanding overlooks and waterfalls, there were wonderful rock formations on the drive and in October the colors were just gorgeous.

I would consider the triple falls area. It is not a difficult hike and the waterfalls are great. With all of the recent rain, I am guessing they would be fantastic.

Trails and waterfalls are free. Sliding Rock is a modest charge for parking, but no admission charge per person.
