We went to this beach access, as it was after labor day, and there were no crowds. Of course, there was no lifeguard either. Wide, beautiful beach with lots of room.

I have to admit the National Park Service really did this right. This beach is beautiful and great for families. It is life guarded, has plenty of parking, showers, bathrooms and changing facilities. There was plenty of room to spread out and not be on...More

This beach is so beautiful! Not crowded. We will be back. Good for shell-searching. The sand is so soft.

Ocracoke seashore is so pristine and the sunsets are absolutely amazing! The ride out to the Hatteras free ferry, the beach is winding & remote, with the Pamilico sound on the other side. This is a very uninhabitated area that is well-maintained and gives you...More

Take bikes or a short drive and use this fantastic spot with kiddoes. The lifeguards are wise and friendly. Rips and strong undertoes are very common, so the guards are a key security for you and yours.

Big beach, warm water and soft sand. Summer relaxation 101. There is only one guarded beach on Ocracoke Island so if you have children and/or non-swimmers, this is the place to go to enjoy the sea. No badges needed. Plenty of parking plus bathrooms with...More

I live near beaches a little farther south along the Outer Banks that can only pretend to be this pristine. Wonderfully long and amazingly uncrowded. Outdoor showers were a big plus. Highlight of my weekend.

Locals can drive on the beach. Visitors please watch the FLAGS! Red flag means NO SWIMMING. Look at the surf - you can tell when it's not safe. It's a beautiful beach and there are lifeguards in certain areas just pay attention to the flags...More

I’ve never found any sea glass, but Ocracoke and Portsmouth can’t be beat with the seashells you can find.

It is very kid friendly, but 90 miles south of Nagshead on South 12 plus a 40 minute ferry ride from Hatteras to Ocracoke Island
