Took the ferry to Portsmouth Vlg, the company had contracted to take us shelling first at one end of the island, then pick us up 2 hrs later and take us to the Village. The Village was closed but the driver (can not call him a captain) said he had a key and would open the buildings and give us... More

I traveled to Ocracoke for a couple of days to go shelling on Portsmouth Island. Both the Austins and Portsmouth ATV tours are listed in the Ocracoke brochure, which I picked up at Cedar Island. The women at Cedar Island recommended the Austin's as did the receptionist at the Ocracoke hotel. I called BOTH numbers for the Austins listed in... More

A very good tour by a lifelong local. Our captain was very knowledgeable about the local history and told some good stories. It was a little bit of a rough ride back but it was worth what we paid. If you are looking to go to Portsmouth Island these are the folks to take you!

Never got to take the tour, as we called two days in a row and never got a return call. Terrible way to treat people that would easily have spread the word had we gotten a good response. Customer service is everything and they miss this 100%

This was our 2nd trip to Portsmouth with the Austins. We had the older brother the first trip and the younger the second trip. Capt. Rudy shared some personal stories that added to the trip since he is an Ocracoke native and he was nice enough to take us to the beach this trip since we did the village last... More

The actual tour of the island was very nice and informative, but getting there and back in 25-35 kt winds out of the north and 2-3 ft. seas was a bit dangerous without life jackets (PFDs. We ranged in age from @ 60 to 90.). Our group of 19 traveled in two flat-bottom boats across rough seas. (Just in case... More

Captain Austin was great and incredibly charming with his tales of the islands and growing up on Ocracoke. He navigated the waters with expertise in somewhat rough conditions and made our trip to Portsmouth and back a memorable one!! Please tip these people generously, they are worth it!!! Also this tour on the beach and village is not for the... More

This guy has lived on Ocracoke his entire life. Well worth the 20 bucks a person for the trip! Great deal and family lived it!

Must go every time I go. The whitest sand in the entire outer banks and the clearest water. Basically imagine your own private beach. You might be on the island with twelve other people total. Historically interesting and visually appealing.
