Just a short bike ride from the Ocracoke Village, this path is directly across the main road from the state campground and offers wooded trails and views of the Pamlico Sound. It takes only about 15 minutes to complete.

I hiked this place at dusk by myself and it was magical. I felt I was in another world, so peaceful, so serine.

I've been meaning to walk this trail for a while but it was always summer and buggy. So for an off-season visit in lovely fall weather I decided to check it out. What a pleasant surprise! Like a hidden place in the maritime forest, all...More

My first time on this trail which was easy, short, with some great overlooks. Lots to see, but use your insect spray first!

This is a really nice short trail through a maritime forest that leads to a small overlook of the marsh and sound side of the island. Lots of frogs along the path which the kids loved. Also lots of mosquitos which they didn't, so definitely...More

Nice easy trail. Takes you out to a viewing stand where we stayed for about 30 minutes with our binoculars watching all the ibis, pelicans, cormorants, etc. But as everyone has already said, BUG SPRAY IS A MUST!

This is an easy walk and beautiful. Love the pine cones, they are more buffed and shinny rather than dark brown and dull. It was a fun experience and I walked it alone no wild animals came after me.

We like hiking the trails at Hammock Hills Nature Trails. Not a big place but good exercise and always some wildlife to see in the way of seabirds or even an occasional dolphin. Better in the early morning and late afternoon.

Plenty of easy parking. Not large crowds. Across from National Park campground. A scenic island hammock nature walk that is flat.
