The house pictured in actually a teachers conference center but was a former US Coast Guard station. It is right next to the ferry terminal to go Cedar Island. Very Nice area and has a small snack area with bathrooms.

We drove down from Nags head and took the ferry to Ocracoke. It was a beautiful drive with stops in Hatteras and Buxton. We loved the free ferry ride even in the rain. Ocracoke is awesome with a wonderful beach and charming village.
This road runs the length of the OBX and most of the length you are driving along with high dunes on one side with occasional views of the ocean and on the other side beautiful views of the marshes and Intercoastal waters.
