Very lovely Lighthouse wish we could have gone inside but it wasn't available at the time of our visit but we did get to take some wonderful pictures of the light house and of our family!!! Would recommend a few more parking spots we had to travel to it a few times to get an actual parking spot to go... More

My kids love going to see this lighthouse. Its very cool to see at night as the light reflect over the ocean. Very easy to drive up to and see.

We incorporated fishing on Oak Island along with my quest to see the lighthouse. I am trying to see all the lighthouses on NC mainland and the Outer Banks and only have two to go now. It was very exciting (although it was after hours) but we had no plans to go in or climb the steps (if that was... More

Had a great time climbing the stairs with a bit of banter w friends. The views from the top and being able to walk around the parapet were exhilarating. I highly recommend this to all (unless you're afraid of heights!)

Pretty kewl but wish you could go inside and climb it. Spent sometime here taking pics though. Very little space for a handful of cars and you have a time limit.

Visited on a beautiful Friday in early March. The light is in a pretty spot, but there are no amenities. The light is normally closed. To get up to the top you have to arrange a special tour. Limited parking, no bathrooms. Just a plaque, message board and a couple of picnic tables.

The limited tour availability is because the lighthouse is manned by unpaid volunteers. These people do a fantastic job in assisting you & telling you the history of the lighthouse. The climb is unique because this is the ONLY lighthouse with 'ships ladders' instead of stairs. It takes a little more effort but is well worth it for the experience.... More

While this is a great attraction (and would otherwise rate 5 stars), it is not open any regular hours to climb. So people who come are often disappointed they can't get access to the inside of it, but can only take photos from across the street. Occasionally the trustees will open it for a weekend, but most of the time... More

Not open to the public, and parking is limited, but historically interesting and curious. One of the last light houses built on the coast.

The tour guides were fantastic. They were very patient and extremely knowledgeable about the Lighthouse and the surrounding areas as far as you could see. Wonderful little souvenirs for the kids and adults are available for purchase.
