Sunday at the beach. I have been here very often and September might be my favorite time. Weather is as you see, temp is 88 F at 3 pm, water is (guessing) mid to high 70s. Paradise

It’s a large family beach that allows dogs on a leash and at low tide is very welcoming. However, due to a beach re-nourishment program, there are numerous rocks in certain areas of the beach. You cannot see them at high tide. I found that...More

Oak Island has lovely sandy beaches, not too many visitors off season, and it welcomes families and their dogs. It is a wonderful place to relax and watch wonderful sunsets.

The Island is basically free with no parking meters no bridge tolls and few other restrictions. There is pleanty of free parking and many loxcal restaurants. There are NO chain rest6aurants and essentiaLLY, the Island is "small town' with no amusement parks.

We love this island! A great destination where their is a sense of community. Affordable living and access to both the ocean and the intercostal!

I love visiting this beach. It's pretty, clean, and not super crowded. The view of the pier is also a perk!

clean not a very busy beach. I like North Myrtle better. I would stay again in Oak island. Just wished they had more sidewalks to get to different places

The best the southern Atlantic has to offer: great sand, waves to ride and a dune backdrop. No crowding and the other beach goers were well-behaved.

My favorite beach! Quiet and beautiful! There are sea turtle nests along the beach. This year is our first time to stay right on the beach and it is amazing.

You will need to check with town hall. I have seen gas grills on the beach but it may have been in the winter.
