Family Fun

What a wonderful way to be outdoors! Spent the afternoon with family. Grandson rode bike as we strolled the paved pathway. Watched tubes and kayaks in the river. Had snack along the way. Family Fun right here in our own backyard.

Peaceful and quiet... but close to town.
Mar 2020
We love walking this trail. It's super close to home, but very peaceful and relaxing. The walk following the river. You can see all sorts of wildlife: geese, ducks, woodpeckers, etc. You often see people walking their dogs. The path is wide and well cared for.

Beautiful walking trails
Jun 2018 • Family
These Yadkin River Greenway offers lots of different paths to walk on. You can start at any of the trail heads. There is paved road and a finely crushed dirt/mix if you don't want to run on pavement.

Great place to stretch your legs. Paved trail with gravel trail beside it. Great for walking and biking and runs along the Yadkin River. Stop and enjoy the river along the way.

What a nice place for a good walk. The greenway leads you for a nice walk along the river some parts are a little up hill but nothing to challenging, you can also go for a nice bike ride on the greenway. There are several entrances to the greenway so pick your spot and enjoy

Great outdoor family outing
Apr 2017 • Family
Can walk/run at own pace, stop and "smell the flowers", and also have benches periodically to sit and rest or just take in the beauty of nature.

Nature in the middle of town
Sep 2017 • Couples
The Yadkin River Greenway offers a pleasant dose of nature right in the middle of town. There are currently seven sections of greenway, some of them quite short. Here's a preview of the best ones:

-The unpaved Jefferson Turnpike section follows the path of an old log flume up the Reddies River. It's 2.7 miles out-and-back. You'll find tall trees, a slow moving stream and plenty of peace and quiet on this stretch.
-The greenway's red section links Memorial and Smoot Parks in North Wilkesboro. It's 2.4 miles out-and-back. It traces the one of the Yadkin's faster flowing stretches. It's a great place to see waterfowl and wildflowers.
-The green Mulberry Fields section follows the Yadkin and Reddies Rivers from West Park to West D Street. It's about three miles out-and-back. A spur crosses the river and climbs up the route of an old carriage trail to historic Wilkesboro. The Health Foundation has installed outdoor exercise equipment for adults at the West Park trail head. This section is handy for cyclists headed from one town to the other.
-The blue section skirts the edge of River's Edge Park in Wilkesboro from the YMCA to the Wilkesboro town shop. It's about four miles out-and-back.

Several connecting trails are currently in the works. The River's Edge Park section will eventually run all the way to Wilkes Community College, the Mulberry Fields section will be continuous from West Park to Smoot Park.

Take a pleasant walk or ride along the yadkin river
Jun 2017 • Couples
This paved greenway is perfect for walking or cycling. Pets on leashes can have lots of fun, too. The Boy Scouts have made interesting improvements to enjoy along the banks. There are several access points. Take a few minutes to wade.
