Great veiws

It was fun! Where shoes sand can get hot and bring water. Fly a kite or go for a walk to see the view. Good for families or couples to get some exercise!

Beautiful place was sooooooo hot. The sand wasnt hot though. It really feels like youre in the dessert after a while. the views were so beautiful. My nephew did hate it though, the heat and the sand walking was so much for his little legs. We adults enjoyed it though!

Any first time visitor to the Banks has to climb Jocky's Ridge. And many repeat annually. The view is stupendous.

Nice walk through nature, as you stroll on a small boardwalk through lush vegetation that ultimately brings you to the "dunes". Here most people leave their shoes & head though the sand barefoot. It appears at first that you are in a desert rather than on a beach, but when you reach the top of the dunes, you can see... More

While waiting for some hang gliders to show up at Jockey's Ridge decided to follow the nature trail. It would be of interest for nature lovers but not those who are more comfortable less primitive areas of the Outer Banks. The trail is a mile and a half round trip through mostly soft sand. Not recommended for those who have... More

The dunes are living, so each time you visit will be different than before. The trail takes you through the heart of Jockey's Ridge to the sound and the vistas along the way cannot be seen anywhere else along the Eastern Seaboard. Make sure you bring water and bug spray, as the biting flies will tear you up if not.... More

We came here yesterday but it was cold and rainy. Sunny and beautiful today so we came back. I did not realize how tiring you get walking on the Sand Dunes. WOW, they are constantly moving and shifting. An amazing place to enjoy nature at it's best.

We did not know there were sand dunes like this anywhere but in the desert They are always changing one thime you go they will look a certain way and the next time completely different. Try and pick a day when its not 100 degrees to go or you will have sand sticking to you in places you dont want

With some insight into the dune living creatures and such.... about 1 hours some parts are a bit challenging uphill in sand but great for all ages and abilities. The site is just so amazing and the park put together an educational brochure to mark the spots along the dune trail. So glad we made the visit to Jockey State... More
