An interesting and still important lighthouse that can be visited but not climbed. (NOTE: The lighthouse is currently under construction, and is expected to re-open in summer 2013, with the ability to be climbed for the first time)

Keep in mind that during the winter seasons, it is CLOSED for climbing. However, you can walk the grounds and take as many pictures as you would like. We will be back during normal season so we can climb it!

I would not recommend going to this lighthouse in the off season. Maybe during the season it is better, not sure. Couldn't get near the lighthouse let lone climb it.

This is the kind of attraction that everyone should see in their lifetime. We spent a day and visited several lighthouses, and so glad we did. Beautiful, and something that makes me proud to be a North Carolinian.

I've been to this light house twice since I started visiting OBX. I really enjoy walking the grounds, but I've been just dying to get up in that lighthouse! Every time we get there, the tickets to go into the lighthouse are "sold out." I know there's probably a cut off time but I'm not sure how you sell out... More

We missed the sign on the way down the Outer Banks, but found it on the way back. There was signage so I don't know how we missed it! Really pretty location with boardwalks available down to the sound. There are bathroom facilities and a gift shop for souvenirs.

An enjoyable experience although there wasn't much to see or do as the tour of the lighthouse was closed for the season. There is a boardwalk and pier to overlook the marshlands including a bookstore/gift shop with souvenirs.

We came just before thanksgiving. Could not climb in this season (opens in April to climb) but the lighthouse is pretty. We were determined to see as many lighthouses as we could. Park rangers there were very nice and answered our questions. There is a nice wooden walkway that goes out to the water. Watched ducks and crab in the... More

This is one of the most well kept lighthouses I have ever been to. So beautiful you just have to see it.

If you love lighthouses, you'll love Bodie (pronounced Body as told to me by the locals). This lighthouse is identical to Currituck, except it has one less entrance step, and is painted. The grounds around the lighthouse are breathtaking with a long boardwalk that overlooks a marsh/inlet. Great photo ops from anywhere you walk. Nice gift shop on premises. Grounds... More

Traveled to Bodie Island Lighthouse especially for the super moon (as did 20-30 other photographers). Love this location. Mosquitoes weren't too bad this time of year. Although we've been here before, for newcomers, the turnoff is very easy to miss. Loved seeing the deer along the road to the lighthouse. This is also a great place to see the Milky... More
