Was disappointed that the lighthouse was closed for the season. Also no museum to tell you about the history of the lighthouse or the people who worked there

The current Bodie Island Lighthouse is the third that has stood in this vicinity of Bodie Island on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and was built in 1872. It stands 165 feet (50 m) tall and is located on the Roanoke Sound side of the first island that is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The lighthouse is... More

We love Bodie! I totally forgot it was closed to climbing for the season. What a beautiful day for a visit, though!

We've been before and it's great. We were not able to climb this time of the year. (It's closed due to staff limits off season) but visitor center is open and staff were super nice and helpful with all our questions. We love this lighthouse location it's a great place to get some nice photos.

We are in North Carolina beginning of November and the lighthouse climbing stops Columbus Day. So if you are interested in climbing it can't be done until April when it reopens. The store/info center is open all the time but they need three people to operate the climbing part of it and it just doesn't happen in the off season...makes... More

This was just one of our stops on the way down to Cape Hatteras to see the other lighthouses. The bodie island lighthouse is beautiful. The staff there are extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area.

Nice lighthouse with a planked walkway to an overlook. The gift shop was nice. No shot glasses. Flat access on the grounds for those who need it

If you enjoy seeing lighthouses, you most likely will want to see this one. I can't remember whether you can go up in this one, but we saw all of the lighthouses in the area and were disappointed that either you couldn't go to the top or you had to pay to climb the stairs and it was quite a... This is another beautiful N.C. lighthouse. NC has so many lighthouses and I hope to see all of them. The Park Ranger was so educated in the histories of the spelling and pronunciation of Bodie.

Just had to see the Bodie Island Lighthouse on our recent trip to the Outer Banks. Stopped to check out Bodie on our way to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Both were phenomenal!
