Have not been on the swinging bridge in some years but was shocked to see people forcing their dogs to walk across with them. Some of the dogs were obviously terrified. It is dangerous for them and the people trying to walk across. Please do not... More

Memorial day weekend 2016 - great hike with the kids and the dogs. Beautiful views. the little zoo was cute, and I loved the otter exhibit. Loved the mile high swing bridge. The top was a bit crowded, but still enjoyable.

We paid $18 per person. This is simply unaffordable for many folks. Having recently been to Brookgreen Gardens where a ticket isn't cheap but it's good for 7 days we suggest that GFM tickets be allow for a return hike at least. Video in museum by Patrick McMillan is really excellent. We suggest to visit on the weekend to attend... More

North Carolina is blessed with two high peaks where it is possible to reach a windy summit by driving, Mount Mitchell and Grandfather Mountain. The switchbacky road without guide rails to reach the Grandfather summit provides exhilaration on the way up and down, and in the middle there is the "Top Shop" and the "Mile High Swinging Bridge." The joke-named... More

The views are sweeping; I doubt there there is a view quite like this anywhere else. In this area you are in Grandfather Mountain State Park, 2600 acres of rugged terrain that was purchased by the state of... More
