Description:

Talk a Walk on the Wild Side at Carolina Raptor Center What will you find...

Talk a Walk on the Wild Side at Carolina Raptor Center What will you find on your walk around the 3/4 mile Raptor Trail? Over 30 species of raptors and other birds of prey are featured on this walk on the wild side. Owls and Vultures. Hawks and Eagles. Falcons, Corvids and other species that just don't fall into any of these categories. Have you seen a Bald Eagle up close? The Raptor Trail features a nesting pair of Bald Eagles who live out back in the Eagle Aviary. Our Spectacled Owl just can't wait to tell you what she thinks about living here at CRC, but you might have to listen carefully to what she has to say - she's a shy one. Did you know that Vultures and Corvids are some of the smartest birds around. No bird brains here! Lots of human mythology surrounds both of these families of avian brainiacs. Crows have been known to drop nuts into crosswalks so that cars can crack them and then wait for the light to change and retrieve the goodies! Behind the scenes at CRC is our Raptor Hospital, where we see approximately 900 raptor patients a year (please no songbirds or possums!). If you can't make our behind the scenes tour, don't worry, the exhibit "A Day in the Life of a Raptor Hospital" will show you what goes on there - day and night.

We were visiting the granddaughter in Charlotte, and they had been here before, and recommended we go here. They have a good selection of rescued raptors, from kestrels to hawks to eagles to vultures and owls, They also have some crows and ravens. We went on a weekday, so not a lot of activities, but there are lots of areas... More

Thanks for your review. We'll have folks out during the week all summer starting in June. You can also see our flight show this summer for FREE with regular admission thanks to our partner Duke Energy who is funding it this year for all visitors. More

The birds are nicely displayed in a way that makes them very accessible yet everyone is safe. Unfortunately the eagles were courting so we didn't get to see them this time. There are opportunities to see programs with birds and feeding. Make sure you check the website before you go to see the schedule.

This is a great place to take children where the adults can enjoy themselves as well. Every time I've been here, there is something different and new to see. The bald eagles are always awesome, but so are all the different owls.

Very educational and interactive for adults and kids! Latta plantation is right next to it so plan to do both! Pack your lunch and make a day of it.

The Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) is a wonderful place to explore. To be able to wander the trails and see all kinds of raptors and learn more about them is simply fascinating! Everyone has their favorite raptor, and to be up close and personal with them makes for a great day. The shows and exhibits and well-groomed trails make Carolina... More

I spent a couple of hours at the center and learned a lot about raptors. Interesting information displayed on each of the owls, hawks, vultures, etc housed at the center. You can get a close up view of most. The gift shop had interesting items. The staff and volunteers do a good service for caring for these injured birds.

Took advantage of a free visit for Arts and Science Council day. Beautiful facility to visit and learn about raptors and their rehabilitation. Well maintained trails and aviaries. Educational meet and greet stations. Picnic tables and benches to sit and take in the birds. The walking trails can be difficult for mobility impaired as there are many uneven surfaces, natural...
