Longest trail is a comfortable 2 miles. Very pretty walk and a wonderful view of the valley. Close to a busy highway so you do hear quite a not of traffic noise at the beginning of the trails.

Not an urban park by any means -- a small state recreation area that has rigorous uphill climbs, scenic wooded trails, fishing in ponds, paths along a river, and a small picnic area. Very pretty, quiet (except when you're on the same side of the...More

We stumbled upon Occoneechee Mountain State Park when looking for local trails, and we were so surprised! The parking lot was busy for a Sunday morning, but once on the trails we only saw a few people/dogs/babies. It seemed like a very family-friendly trail! We...More

Wow what a surprise to find this park right next to the Interstate, we hiked up to the overlook and wondered how this beautiful view was hidden from so much traffic. It was a nice hike on a sunny day.

Liked this park a lot! It's not overwhelmingly big so great for walks and for trail runs. A trail loop around the park is only 2.2miles with smaller 1mile loops. So runners can either choose to run by the loops or extend by getting onto...More

I've been on this hike a couple of times now, and I really enjoy it. I miss my easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway and tons of trails, but this is a good one for our area! You can make it as hard or as...More

This NC State Park is relatively small as far as State Parks go, but it packs a lot in. The park is basically the footprint of Occoneechee Mountain, the tallest hill in the area. It is bordered by I-85 on the South, the Eno River...More
