Found this by accident as the sun was setting, very happy we found it. Very well designed, tons of plants, quiet escape from the resort town traffic. In the evening we were completely alone. Nice to have solitude in a lush garden environment.

This is a spot not to be missed. Located in the heart of Highlands, you feel as if you are in the forest. You can walk the many trails, visit the Centre, attend one of their many helpful lectures or simply sit on a bench and enjoy the natural beauty of the site. Highly recommended.

The fall colors were perfect and the trails through the woods beautiful. The labeled plants were mostly gone but the lake was stunning. Perfectly still water and reflections of the trees was breathtaking.

We enjoyed our visit very much. The plants of the Cherokee walk was a highlight, very interesting to learn how they used the different plants. We also just enjoyed walking on many different paths and seeing lots of chipmunks.

This is a great place to visit just outside of town. It is free but they do accept donations. Kids would love this place since there are specimens from the local area and walking trails.

We visited for the first time and had a wonderful experience. I would recommend the nature center for ages 4 and up. The child needs to be mature enough to understand what is allowed to be touched (there's a touch table and an awesome microscope hooked up to a television) and what should not be touched (taxidermied animals). The woman... More

We always make visiting the nature center and gardens a priority when we are in Highlands. The different seasons provide an ever varying experience hiking around the lake. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Ive been going here for 60 years and it still continues to teach. Maybe what I like about it most is the its the same stuffed birds, the giant tree with rings, and the moss garden. Its a walking treat around the lake.

Visited this location with my husband and mother. My mother was unable to do the walk. I took it by myself not realizing there are so many trails to choose from. I did a brief loop to see some of the natural foliage. Would be great if I had a longer time and wasn't walking in the forest alone.

Nice and open trails. Well maintained. Areas are preserved in their native habitat. Dogs/pets may walk with you through the outdoor trails but not inside the center. Relaxing and enjoyable several hours roaming on our own.
