We showed up after the heavy snow that had fallen and it seemed closed. I parked and checked the door, being that we drove an hour to get there. It was open, and she said she was cleaning the shop. After letting her know I had 5 eager minors ready to explore for gems, she was all too eager to... More

Along with the opportunity to mine for your own finds, the array of items available is huge! This store does not disappoint if you are looking for unique gifts or a treasure of your own. They even have Native American items. The workers are knowledgeable and kind.

We often travel along I-26 on long trips with our two young kids (4 & 7 yrs old). We have visited the Elijah Mountain Gem Mine twice, and the kids had a great time on each visit. The employees are wonderful with kids, and it is well-worth the trip off from the interstate.

While it wasn't the best gem that I've been to, the staff was friendly and it was the easiest sand/gem sluices that I've been to. The store was full of lots of stones and jewelry. I can't help feeling like it was a little overpriced for what you get but we left with good memories so that's what counts.

One thing we really wanted to do in Asheville was gem mine so we settled on Elijah Mountain. It was raining but they have an outdoor covered area and an indoor area so that wasn't a problem at all. That lady working was absolutely the sweetest thing I've ever met. The store is awesome and features great things at great... More

We visited today and purchased the green bucket for my two girls to share. I couldn't believe how many goodies my kids came away with from sapphires, garnets, rubies, to petrified wood, fossils and Geodes and everything in between! They had so much fun sifting through the bucket, and the staff was so friendly. They really took their time explaining... More

Wonderful spot for the family to enjoy searching through dirt for gems! My two-and-a-half-year-old thinks this is the best place ever because not only does he get to play with dirt and rocks and water but then he gets to see them in his pile and feel as though he has accomplished much! The staff are warm and caring as... More

We visited on a cool fall morning. They had a roaring fire going in the fireplace and heaters over the flumes. So many things to see. There were raw gems & fossils all the way to beautiful pieces of jewelry. Kids had a blast looking for gems and collecting treasures.

Late Fall and Winter are great times to visit Elijah Mountain. Indoor mining, out of the elements of weather, is not only fun but unique! Our staff loves making the fire each day before guests arrive. Thank you and hope to see you again! More

We came with our 11 year old son and 5 year old daughter and got the big green bucket for $60. We had never done this before, so they showed us how to filter the sand and gave us a picture guide of gemstones we might find. The lady on staff there took the time to go through the several... More
