I give this place a 5 for the beauty of Gods creation and it is a must see. BUT....unfortunately there is a lot of trash polluting the water. Not sure why, some reviewers say partying people but we did not see that. Mostly hikers and...More

The drive to get here is somewhat long and very interesting. The "hike" down to the bottom of the falls is short but can be slippery when wet. View once you get here it is amazing. Easy for just about anyone to walk down.

Awesome picturesque location, great for a hot summer day! It does get a little crowded on the weekends though. As a resident of Avery county who has been to the falls at least 50 times or more i will say this DONT JUMP OFF OF...More

We stopped here after the manager of our hostel recommended it! It was an easy drive (kinda long but not bad!) and the walk from the parking area was short. The falls are very big and pretty! However, do NOT swim in the big pool!...More

I remember visiting the falls in the 1980's and it hasn't changed much at all except there are more visitors now. I guess the word got out. Still a fun walk to the falls. The walk is a little scary in spots so you'll need...More

Second death in less than 6 weeks happened yesterday. Numerous deaths have occurred at the Falls over the years, from swimming in the lower pool and jumping from the top, despite warning signs. If you doubt this assertion, a simple google search will confirm the...More

This is a perfect swimming hole and wading creek. It does take a bit of time to get there and you think you've gone into the mountains but it's worth it. College kids and locals spend time here soaking up the sun and wading. You...More

The hike to the falls is easy, so if you aren't in the mood for an intense hike this is the one for you! The falls are worth the effort. The only disappointing part of our visit was seeing all the trash in the area....More

Yes. But DEFINITELY have them on a leash! Trails have lots of roots and rocks and no railings or ropes along the edge of the trails. If your dog pulls at his leash I would NOT take him. A great place to take dogs for a walk... More
