The history of the area is presented in a very well done manner with narrative and items of each period. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is available, mainly on the street. There is no admission. There was an excellent display about WWI...More

Private tour of the museum by the staff. Lots of stories of the local history. Many of the exhibits done entirely on site.

This free museum with ample parking in historic downtown was a wonderful diversion for an afternoon. Plenty of displays for a range of age. Their African American displays were very informative, and their temporary women’s history hallway that equally reviewed three different populations in NC...More

Elizabeth City’s Museum of the Albemarle isn’t exactly new. Rather, it has been the northeastern regional branch of the NC Museum of History for many years. What is new, at least relatively speaking, is the facility, which opened in 2006. Previously, the museum had been...More

I couldn't believe how many authentic pieces of history this museum holds. Clothes, tools, boats and even a re-built smokehouse. Perfect way to spend an hour or two during a rainy day.

Not really, regional . However if you are in the area its well worth a stop. Go to the web site to see current exhibit. You may want to visit the cemetery next door.
