    Enlightening
The site layout was peaceful and wonderfully maintained. An excellent video and talk made a great start. The staff were outstandingly interesting regarding the location's history and its impact on the world of 1865 and today. A really worthwhile visit.

The place of surrender of the largest Confederate army led by Gen Johnson. Took place after Lincoln's assassination, with the South getting a raw deal from Lincoln's Sec of State. Immaculately preserved, enveloped by forest.

    Great historic site!
This place was a surprise to me! It was a good accompaniment to visiting the Duke Homestead. The first agreement to end the Civil War took place here, although that is a little known fact. The guided tour is a great way to learn about the history of the family and the subsequent meeting of two opposing generals to reach an agreement to end the War. Very nicely done historic site.

This is an interesting historic site, where a key moment in the conclusion of the Civil War happened. There's a little museum and grounds to explore.

Informative but itā€™s all a recreation with an emphasis on the North being a bunch of big meanies burning down Raleigh and forcing Johsnston to surrender. Definitely got War of Northern Aggression vibes as opposed to ā€˜this is a place where the South was forced to acknowledge their treason, and concede they had lost the warā€™

Excellent indoor exhibits and film on the negotiated surrender of the last large Confederate army to Sherman and his generous conditions of surrender. Regular outdoor demonstrations of military arms and period farm practices.

Great place to visit for everyone. A part of history we werenā€™t aware of. Nice walking grounds where we could take our greyhound.

We were in Durham and in search of an interesting and outdoor activity. When we entered the welcome center we were greeted by our eventual guide Fred. He offered a brief overview prior to showing us to a room to watch a 15 minute film that put this site and the events of April 1865 into perspective. Following the movie, Fred walked us around the property bringing history to life. It was really captivating. Well worth the stop

07/08/22 - My Daughter-in-Law took us here, I have to say, I didn't know anything about the Bennett Place, but I took away some great history, I only knew about the surrender at Appomattox, Virginia from Hisory books and History class in school, and college. I always like to read and learn as much as I could about the Civil War. Although this is where the Civil War actually ended Jack, our tour guide was great, and spent alot of time explaining the Civil War, and the role that Bennett Place and the Bennett family has played a part in its history. The tour, and the museum are all worth a visit. We highly recommend this place for anyone interested in the Civil War and impact on North Carolina. Bennett Place is run by volunteers and relies on donations.

We enjoyed touring the small museum and grounds. That day, the web link for the walking tour was not working, but the staff was working to get it back up.
