I hike here often. The park is well run. The staff & facilities are an example for others to follow. The diversity of this park means everyone can experience & enjoy the beauty of nature no matter what their abilities or interests.

Well maintained and marked trails (many choices-will have to return!), beautiful views. Lake and swimming area look beautiful.

Took a spontaneous solo trip to Hanging Rock to kill a few hours while my daughter had her interview and portfolio presentation for admission into UNCSA. Planned to do just a few of the easy trails but park ranger talked me into doing the hanging rock trail. Trail starts off paved, turns to gravel and then finishes with a scramble... More

An awesome place to go in the summer. I can't walk the trails because I'm on oxygen, but I love going up to see the different artist that hang their pictures in the info station. The farmers market they have started having every summer is great!!

Beautiful park, great trails and scenic views throughout the surrounding area. You'll find this about a 1 hour drive from Greensboro. Wonderful place that makes North Carolina a top state.

All of the State Parks in North Carolina should be on your travel list, however when it comes to a getaway for hiking or camping, Hanging Rock is my pick. There are 20 miles of good hiking trails here, ranging from beginners to someone who wants a challenge. I never get tired of coming to this park, whether I’m riding... More

OK, nice day hike to hanging rock. We were there on cloudy day after it rained. Went to Hidden Falls which was OK, then Lower Cascade Falls as recommended by ranger. WOW!! Hidden gem.

Came for First Hike 2017. Lots and lots of hiking trails, but the trail map is not really helpful. Never did get to our first goal, but hiked to a couple of water falls, and thoroughly enjoyed that. Take a hiking staff to make it easier. The small shelters made us wish we had brought lunch, and will next time... More

Hanging Rock State Park is perfect for all ages. I was worried because our youngest hiker was 4, but either the hike was just moderate enough, or she is a rock star! The park has many trails, but for this day trip and our group we decided to do the hike to Hanging Rock (which makes sense for our first... More
