This is the wildlife/nature activity of the most limited variety, of all the OBX. Easy quick stroll on the boardwalk, ending at the observation platform on the sound - 0.3 miles. Sound view is nice and we have spotted some horses in the reeds there...More

Me and a friend walked both trails consisting of the boardwalk and the footpath to the sound. The trail was well maintained, easy to follow, and through a great maritime forest. At the end of the trail, we spotted three wild horses--a definite treat!

This is a nice little nature trail that leads you over to the sound. Younger kids enjoy spying various native birds and plant life. We did not do the trail through the woods this time because last year it was not marked well.

This is a wonderful, well-kept trail. Great for all ages and abilities. Wide boardwalk style that can easily accommodate a wheel chair or stroller. Flat trail with no hills. However, my 4 y.o. did get a tick. That is common place for this "day and...More

Yes! My husband and I saw a black bear on the remote path—the one off the boardwalk! I was able to get video of the bear and pull a few stills out of the video, but I am unable to upload any to this sight....More

The boardwalk trail ends in a beautiful scenic view of the sound, but we thoroughly enjoyed the “off boardwalk” nature trail which weaves in and out of the trees and shrubbery. Very well marked path and pretty flat for the duration. Pets on leash were...More

Took the boardwalk path over wetland and thru some very dense marshes. It was super cool and some of folks in our party started joking we felt like "Children of the Corn". The end is a platform over the water with a beautiful view. However...More
