We stopped at this day use area because the grand kids wanted to spend some time in the water and not have to worry about waves wiping them out. What a great little gem of a place. The kids could walk out into the sound,...More

We went to the Canadian hole on a fairly warm but not windy August morning. The sign says Haulover, as others have mentioned, and you could easily miss it if you're not looking carefully. There's a decent but not large parking lot. Changing rooms and...More

A beautiful place to watch the sunset. Shallow beach for children, fantastic place to climb on your board and hold on. Some days are slow but when the wind is up, it's something else.

Came here to watch the sun down two nights in a row it was so beautiful! Looks like a great spot to launch a kayak or kite surf. Also note, the signage reads Haulover, not Canadian hole.

We stopped here to see the sunset over the sound. Really great view. There were many people kite surfing, not for me but looked like a lot of fun.

a legendary spot for windsurfing and kiteboarding, parking area with toilets. Whether watching or sailing this spot is buzzing on a windy day.

Canadian Hole is on the Sound-side of Hatteras Island. Supposedly the fave spot for Canadian visitors. Good location for shallow-water activities. Facilities available.

This is a beautiful spot on the sound side of the island but there's nothing much to do and parking is not easy. You can enjoy it just as well by driving slowly by it unless you want to get in the water.

You can rent different water sports items from Ocean Atlantic Rentals in Avon, right up the road. I believe single kayaks rent for the week starting at $69.
