We live close to Lake Norman so taking a day trip up to Blowing Rock was just the right amount of travel time in the car - 1.5 hour each way. The views of Grandfather Mountain and surrounding peaks is pretty amazing. The overlook is...More

I enjoyed blowing rock. The views are beautiful! It was rainy but still very enjoyable. I would have hiked on the trail if it had not been raining. The gift shop has some cute items.

Do yourself a favor. Drive north for a couple of miles, get on the Blue Ridge Parkway and drive south towards Grandfather Mountain. There are plenty of beautiful vistas, and they’re absolutely free. If you want a really good, high-quality gift shop, stop at the...More

It was a clear day and you could really see for miles. The trees were in full color and it looked like rolling hills of color. Worth a look see but not a lot to do up at the rock itself. Blowing Rock town was...More

Go for a hike. Get some fresh air. Put down your smart phone. See the beauty in nature and take your family outside. Make a memory. The views here are spectacular.

This is one of those places you need to visit once. If you are there to see the amazing fall foliage then that's a bonus. The staff were friendly and everything was clean. We enjoyed walking the short trails (they state it's a 1/4 of...More

We thought it was absolutely worth the $7 admission fee. Best views of our trip and we went to many other places. Awesome rock formations and great photo ops. Wouldn’t pay to go there every year, but I am so glad we went at least...More

It's a rock overlooking a valley- not worth the fee and gift shop that surrounds it. Hate that it's turned into a tourist trap. Go somewhere else and enjoy nature- not hype.

Yes pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and you pick up the waste at The Blowing Rock park. As for the Blue Ridge Parkway, pets are also welcomed.

I would plan an hour. It's a beautiful park and a great place to take pictures. The park itself isn't that big. Enjoy the views!
