I'll start off by saying I was here in the absolute peak season. That is on me for sure, but this place was so jam packed it was literally shoulder to shoulder from the time I arrived to the moment we left. We got here...More

We went here for the day, rented some gear and paid for lessons. For a few people it was well over $200 but a great experience. The instructor was very good and patient with the young kids. Skiing is definitely harder than I thought and...More

We stayed in Boone for New Year's Eve weekend. I am not a skier but we saw multiple ads on websites and this event featured in the local magazines to come here for New Year's Eve for fireworks, ice skating, bonfire, skiing, food and torch-skiing...More

This place was nice other than if you don't have four wheel drive DO NOT take the back steep entrance. You won't make it up the icy snowmaking area roads. It was nice snowboarding and skiing. The terrain wasn't icy and the rentals were good....More

We took the family for the first time on Christmas day. Our first impression was not too good, as the line to get tickets and equipment was several hours long. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff more than made up for the wait and...More

We loved Appalachian Mountain!! We had never been there before (we live in Florida) but it was definitely worth the drive. Our teenage boys had never skiied before. The lessons were great and both were were skiing down the intermediate slopes by lunchtime. From what...More

After going to Sugar and Beech Mtns, I found the snow and slopes at Appalachian perfect. They are not over crowded and for the price of 4hrs any place else, you get 8 hours here. It's perfectly located outside of Boone, so after a day...More

I would not expect snow that early, it really depends on the temp if they can make it or not. I would look further north like Snowshoe Mtn or anywhere in the Poconos for snow that early...And I would say about 15 miles and... More

We took the family last year. I am 46 and hadn't skied in 20+ years. My husband 48 had never skied. He took a 1:1 lesson while the kids were in a group lesson and it worked out great.
