2,456 acres along the north side of Grandfather Mountain form North Carolina’s newest state park, established in 2009. Hiking is the primary activity, with miles of challenging trails traversing steep, rocky terrain. Along the summit, the trail requires hikers to ascend and descend over large...More

What a scenic drive to the top of this beautiful mountain. It is spectacular to view from the surrounding area but even better up close and personal. Take the drive. It is so worth it. Great hiking trails, views, flora and fauna. A great afternoon...More

The CD guided tour is nice. There is a great museum and animal habitats along the way. You will also see the split rock and the curve that Forrest Gump ran. When you reach the top, you have to go out on the mile high...More

We have had a vacation home in the NC mountains for thirty years and visit Grandfather Mountain at least twice a year. The long-range views are incomparable. The zoo is limited but still very worthwhile. The nature museum is very interesting and educational. We especially...More

Probably not the best area for old folks like us. We didn't venture out on the rocks, but we did make it across the bridge. Its not likely I would pay the $20/person to do it again.

We love taking guests to visit Grandfather Mountain.... two favorite areas to visit on the mountain... the mile high swinging bridge and the museum and zoo. We just love the bridge. There is a nice little hiking trailing with some incredible rock formations from under...More

The swinging bridge was a bit underwhelming. I expected it to be much longer and more thrilling. The views are very nice and the natural habitat exhibits were interesting. Was it worth the price to enter the park....$18.00 per senior? I can't say it was...More

Cecilia is absolutely right. Most questions can be answered from either tripadvisor or an idividual attraction's website. Also, I know it seems a little steep because the fee is per person, not per car. I am not a senior... More

Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash. Small yap dogs would probably have a problem with some of the trails. My Lab had a great time on the trail and playing in the streams.
