This is the first lighthouse we visited on our quest to visit all the NC lighthouses.
The climb isn't too bad, but on a hot day it can get stuffy. Be ready for the ladder and smallish opening to get to the top.
Old Baldy was a fun and quick trip. $6 12 & up. $3 under. Easy parking. No lines. 108 steps. Steps are wood and well maintained. New-ish. The top is a ladder. Only 5-6 people can fit at top. You need to wait on landing...More

The 108 steps aren’t too bad .. but be ready for the ladder and smallish opening to get to the top.
The climb though, is well worth it! The view of Bald Head Island from top is terrific !!
“Old Baldy” was what my three small grandchildren called the lighthouse every time we passed by on our golf cart. They are two and three years old. It was fun to see their excitement when they recognized the lighthouse.
