Cultural place to stop and admire. It's not very big, but the public can sit in the main shrine room, sans footwear and meditate or observe the shrine. Some people were actual Buddhists, but most were there, like me, to get a feel for the...More

Loved the architecture of the building, a solemn place to sit and pray. There are also 2 other small old buildings for prayer that are more rustic. Very nice

I was a cook at this Tibetan Monastery, which sits on top of Meads Mountain in the Catskills, in 1999. Since then, I've lived at the foot of that mountain in historic, picturesque Woodstock, NY. Every time I have a guest who's visiting me for...More

Visited the monastery just before going to hike on Overlook Mountain. Beautiful grounds and buildings, and amazing shrine. We joined an ongoing guided tour, really enjoyed it. It was a bit of a surprise to find a piece of Tibet here in Catskills, just 2...More

The tour at this monastery is really awesome. I highly recommend it. The place is beautiful and the lady giving the tour is mesmerizing. I also stayed for the introduction to meditation which is nice for new-comers to meditation. There's also a lovely hiking trail...More

Beautiful temple and views, must see. Free mediation classes & other events offered every week. Great gift shop although a bit pricey.

Can't remember but relatively early. The grounds are sort of open, and there is a board on the outside of the bookstore with hours for the temples.
