A great visit to see parts of our country

Interesting area with history from when people first settled in the region, worth the visit but I would not make the trip there just to see this reserve alone.

Stromatolites a must-see diversion, if only to give your brain something to boggle at. The whole bay is simply stunning, and we appreciated the simple facilities and explanatory boards that helped us understand their formation and significance.

The Nature Reserve involves a good walk about the area (1.5km Boolagoorda Walk), a visit of the Old Telegraph station, the Shell Block quarry and of course the Stromatolites. The Reserve is over an hour outside of Denham, so takes a forenoon/afternoon to visit. Coincide your visit with the tide and weather. Best to be seen on a clear day... More

This was the first attraction we visited while we were driving towards Denham, we parked the car at the Telegraph Station and did the Boolagoorda Trail. It was noon time, sunny and quite a long walk towards the Stromatolite Boardwalk but on the way, we could read the signage about that area, the beautiful sea & sky views and we... More

Just a short walk to the Pools and an opportunity to walk over the stromatolites on the boardwalk. Stunning photos are to be had - you would have to be a pretty poor photographer to not get a great shot here - even on your phone. Quite windy and warm at midday (the day we went) but only 5km off... We were lucky enough to be at Hamelin Pool Nature Reserve earlier this month and take a walk along the boardwalk to see the stromatolites, the ancient living fossils that are here. We had seen the ones at Shark Bay as well a day or two prior but it was still very interesting to see them and learn about how... More

Was a bit confused by this place. Old telegraph station on this sight but on arriving at end of 5km drive off main road sign indicated accommodation only people to enter but in fact it is a very pleasant picnic ground, camping ground and small shop where food and souvenirs can be bought. Saw large goanna. Be prepared to make... More

We have been here twice now. This visit was at low tide and you could see all of the stromatolites the previous visit 8 years ago was at high tide and then you could see the oxygen bubbles coming from them. Stromatolites are the oldest living organism. An amazing glimpse into life over 3500 million years ago.

In Hamelin Pool Marine Nature have a nice broad walk to see peaceful stromatolites and learn about them. Good to know what they are and super old of them. Much stop and take a walk here.
