The best Finger Lakes Wine Trail. Amazing selection of wineries. Even on the busiest Saturday, you will be able to taste at multiple locations without a long wait. If you have a large group make a reservation even if they don't require it. Get a limo or bus so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery around the lake.

It's always a great idea to check with each winery you'd like to visit if they require a reservation for large groups- some consider a group of 8 large, some don't need a reservation until you hit 15+ people... but it's always a safe bet to call and check first. Traveling in a group can be the responsible and fun... More

I love doing the wine trail at Seneca Lake. I try to go try out a few wineries every year when I visit Western NY State.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. There are a large number of vineyards in every size and variety, suitable for every taste. We read TripAdvisor reviews to help select the ones we were visit, since we were originally somewhat overwhelmed. Most vineyards charge a small tasting fee. Much to our surprise, most of the didn't charge anything when... More

Sounds like you stumbled upon an industry secret! Tasting fees are typically charged for the standard "flight" of 4-6 wines, but in many cases if a guest really just wanted to try "that one Riesling!" or something... sometimes wineries are able to accommodate those requests without charge! Thanks for sharing, we look forward to having you back again soon! More

We spent a very pleasant day just driving around Seneca Lake and stopping at some wineries - some very good wines, and beautiful views. If you're a fan of the grape, spend an afternoon touring. But don't do it too late- most of these wineries close at 5 pm.

It sounds like you had a lovely afternoon! A great observation you've shared- most wineries do close by 5, with a few staying open to 6 (or sometimes 8 in the summer), so visitors will want to plan accordingly. Don't forget to ask your server at your last stop for their recommendations for restaurants for your dinner that night- typically... More

This was our first visit to the region and we loved how rural and “small town” the area is with an abundance of Amish farms and wineries. It really amazes me this area isn’t more developed, which is why we fell in love with it. We were surprised how the wineries close around 5pm, with only a few having extended... More

Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience- you've made some great points! Summertime weekends can be busy- to help alleviate the "rush" that comes when large groups are visiting, some wineries have policies of "no large group reservations after..." a certain time. While there is no industry standard, this can be helpful when planning your own visit! Thanks... More

How can anyone do the Seneca wine trail and not love it. So many great wineries and tastings. Just make sure you plan ahead for lunch. Not a lot of places along the trail to eat although most of the wineries do sell cheese and crackers. Love it!!!!

Good advice for future visitors, thanks! Having a bite to eat while wine touring is always important. While there are a few wineries with cafes and restaurants, it's certainly a great suggestion to bring food along with you in case you're feeling hungry, and many of the wineries do have picnic areas for guests to enjoy. Cheers! More

The Seneca Wine Trail is my favorite of all the Finger Lakes wine trails. Not just because Senaca Lake Trail is the longest and therefor there is more wine to try, but more because; Hazlitt, Wagner and Glenora Wineries are all on Seneca Lake!
