Fairly typical of markets in such places, lots of local produce, fairly hassle free but nothing exceptional, gets busy out front later in the day with lots of very small sellers.

The place to go in Stone Town for buying all fruits, spices, or just browsing around. The shopkeepers are friendly and will engage you in good natured banter.

We had a quick visit to the market. It was nice to see the different fruit, spices and meat on sale. Have never seen such large bananas in my life. The red bananas was also something new.

As it been said. Opens in the early morning and close in the late evening. But if you want to feel the real buzz you should definitely go there ASAP.
